Siena/ Francis House
Siena/Francis House is dedicated to providing
services to all individuals who are without a home, including
those viewed as difficult
to serve, chronically addicted and mentally ill individuals
who are not currently receiving treatment or taking medication.
Providing approximately 900 meals per day (over
330,000 meals a year), Siena/Francis
House has an annual food budget
of only about $200! In order for this to be possible, the donations
and dedication of many individuals is a constant need. Presbyterian
Church of the Cross volunteers help meet this need through a
variety of activities.
- On the second Sunday
of every month from 4:30 to 7 p.m., a crew
of 12 to 15 people from Presbyterian
Church of the Cross assists with serving dinner. Our group
of volunteers range in age from 5 to 75 years of age making
this a great opportunity for intergenerational service. Presbyterian
Church of the Cross generally sends over 125 different volunteers
annually to serve at the Siena/Francis House.
- Periodically Presbyterian Church of the Cross members participate
in
efforts
to collect items needed to keep the
shelter running (e.g., cups, silverware and kitchen utensils,
as well as clothing
and bedding for those in the emergency shelter.)
- Volunteers also help distribute Gideon New
Testament Bibles to those being served. Many opportunities exist for meaningful and rewarding service at the Siena/Francis House. Contact the coordinator if you would like to serve.
