Omaha Street School
Tina Morgan — Coordinator
The Omaha Street School is an alternative high school that puts at-risk youth on the road to success. Omaha Street School has lower drop-out rates than the national average and continues to support educational and career goals after graduation. The staff at the Omaha Street School believe that:
- all people have the potential to learn because they are created in the image of God,
- God’s truth can be witnessed in all areas of academic study,
- education is modeled through nurturing relationships between teachers and students, and that
- education involves the total student in terms of mental, physical, spiritual, and social development.
Presbyterian Church of the Cross volunteers participate by sharing lunch with the students once a month, on the second Thursday of the month. Volunteers prepare a hot lunch, serve the lunch, and interact with students and staff, including prayer and conversation.
Presbyterian Church of the Cross youth (junior and senior high) volunteer by meeting with Omaha Street School staff and students twice a month to clean the school (the school can not afford custodians) and share in fellowship and snacks.
Contact the coordinator for more information about how to volunteer.
